Britney Spears has given a full public statement addressing the way in which she comes across on social media.
Britney Spears Opens Up On How She Has Been Pretending To Be Fine On Social Media
The singer has always had to deal with claims that she has not been in charge of posting her social media posts. While the singer does have a social media team in order to coordinate her activities, Britney has always stressed that she has the final say.
This has been reinforced by the fact that the conservatorship has no bearing on her social media policy. And yet, Britney did admit that there is a disparity between her real life and that which she portrays on social media. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Britney stated how she has been putting on a brave face for the fans.
She said: “For the sake of me and my siblings she [Britney’s mother] always pretended like everything was ok. I’m bringing this to people’s attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL.” During her statements in the conservatorship battle, we saw exactly what Britney meant.
She accused her father, Jamie Spears, of treating her like a victim of sex trafficking and imposing very strict controls over what she could do. To make matters worse, she even claimed that she was denied the chance to marry her boyfriend Sam Asghari and have kids.
But through all of this, Britney remained level headed. The primary reason for this was because Britney had many reservations and insecurities about revealing her struggles. She added: “I apologize for pretending like I’ve been OK the past two years.
“I did it because of my pride, and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly, who doesn’t want to capture their Instagram in a fun light!!!!” Britney is certainly taking more control over her life. She has constantly had to live under the control of her father.
While he may have had good intentions in the early parts of her career in order to protect his daughter from people seeking to take advantage, we have seen that Britney is more than ready to be independent.
