‘Bachelor In Paradise’ alum Tanner Tolbert Rants About The New Direction of The Bachelor Franchise

Bachelor in Paradise’ success story, Tanner Tolbert took to his Intstagram stories on Wednesday to post a  self-proclaimed “rant”, blasting the direction the Bachelor franchise seems to be heading in.

The 34-year-old alum who met his wife, Jade Roper on Bachelor In Paradise believes the list of hosts who are taking the reins from Chris Harrison heralds a dangerous and slippery slope into making the show into a farce.

Most recently, the ABC franchise announced a list of ridiculously random celebrities to take turns hosting in Paradise this summer including David Spade, Titus Burgess, Lil John and Lance Bass.

Tanner immediately made his thoughts heard on Twitter, criticizing the announcement from Bachelor in Paradise’s official account. He further explained his feelings on his Instagram, saying, “The Bachelor franchise needs to figure their s–t out, and figure it out quick.”

Tanner explained that, as a fan of the show, he wants to see the franchise continue but believes it won’t if they cannot sort out the host drama that has been going on since the end of Matt James’ season of The Bachelor.

While he did not fault Kaitlyn Bristowe or Tayshia Adam’s skills as hosts of the current season of the Bachelorette, Tanner did think having the two alums as hosts was also a poor decision on ABC’s behalf.

“The host doesn’t need to be the star of the show,” Tanner continued. “It’s as simple as that. The host is the host. The host needs to be the backbone of the show and fill a role. I don’t need to see commentary on every little thing and have everything be a joke.”

Believing the show should refocus on the relationships and the drama amongst contestants, Tanner cautioned the show against resorting to  “pre-planned, contrived BS.”

He explained, “I don’t tune in to watch David Spade hand out date cards. He was great in Tommy Boy, don’t get me wrong. But I want to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise for the drama and for the relationships, and see that unfold on the screen.”

The man obviously takes the ‘process’ seriously, having spawned three children from his time in Mexico.

Many agreed with Tanner, however, he may want to give it a hot minute. Until now temporary decisions have been seemingly made on the fly.

Now that Chris Harrison has been excommunicated from the franchise, a more permanent host will likely be introduced to viewers- perhaps someone who does well during their audition in Paradise?

However, his rant sounded, it came from a place of love and support.

“I hope the show succeeds.” He concluded. “I hope it gets it gets better because right now, it’s a train wreck.”

He’s not wrong, there.
