Jax Taylor’s departure from Vanderpump Rules may have left fans with a tinge of sadness, but he knew it was the right time to leave.

The star, alongside his wife Brittany Cartwright, decided to call time on their journey at the back end of last year. With the new 9th season on the horizon, it will be strange to no longer see them there. But like so many other shows, he became frustrated by the emphasis on too much entertainment. And this was ultimately a departure from the spirit of the show.
In an interview, he said: “I was 100 percent checked out at the end. … I was just very irritable on the show. It was getting a little bit too scripted for me, and I just couldn’t do it anymore.” But it is not just Jax who felt that it was the right decision. The same could be said for Brittany too. Since she became a parent, Brittany’s mindset started to shift- with a greater emphasis on the welfare of her children.
While the reality show does have some perks, the couple felt it was not the best environment to bring up their children. Brittany stated: “Having a kid changes your perspective on how much you want to put out there. People are mean, and they mom-shame…I would be scared for that part.” On reflection, Brittany does have a point.
The show’s two other stars Lala Kent and Scheana Shay, have been heavily criticised over their parental styles. Not only that, their prior feuds have thrown a further spotlight on whether it was appropriate to bring up their kids in such an environment. Having said all that, they still have fond memories of the show. This was seen by the statement given at the time of their departure.
In a post to his fans on Instagram, Jax revealed: “The last eight years…have been some of the most challenging, rewarding and fulfilling years of my life. Although this is difficult to share, Brittany and I will not be returning.” While fans may miss their presence, they did what they thought was best for their family.
