Jillian Michaels, who happens to be a well-renowned fitness trainer, has regretted her prior comments that she made on Lizzo’s weight.
Jillian Michaels Regrets Commenting On Lizzo’s Weight
The fall out emerged after Jillian gave a controversial interview in which she criticised people who were praising the singer. She had stated: “Why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.” Naturally, Lizzo was left reeling from the comments. Given that she is a singer, she began to feel very self-conscious over her image.
She admitted to her confidence taking a battering, as she could not fathom why people would be so vocal about another person’s body. In response, she did not hide her sadness. She replied: “This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place. I deserve to be happy.”
The latter’s weight issues have been overlooked by the sensational voice she possesses, which propelled her to the forefront of the music industry. But looking back, Jillian wished she could have made those comments without referring to Lizzo herself.
During an interview on the Carlos Watson Show, she said: “The first time I was asked, I should have said, ‘Let’s separate an individual from a conversation about health’ — and that is where I genuinely went wrong.” While she regretted using Lizzo as an example, she did not have any problem telling the truth over what she saw: a case of obesity. Jillian, for her part, is very direct.
That is why she is known for the body transformations she has managed to help undertake. And in keeping with that, she felt that it was her responsibility to call out what she saw- which was ultimately for the greater good. She added: “Obesity is just unhealthy. That’s it. When you are an expert in a category, you have a responsibility, to tell the truth — whether it makes you popular or not.”
Although Jillian likes to say it as it is, she should be careful in light of the current cancel culture we live in. With body shaming now a touchy topic, it is probably wise that she phrases her words more carefully.
