Caitlyn Jenner has announced she has filed the paperwork to run for California governor. She confirmed the news on her Twitter account earlier on Friday.
The former Olympian said in a statement, “Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision” and that “for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people.”
Critics React To Caitlyn Jenner’s Bid For California Governor
Some fans took to their social media accounts to write, “Caitlyn Jenner has been a punchline for years, but her run for California governor will be the exclamation point on this ongoing joke. And you’ll see Caitlin lose spectacularly in the Republican primary. Not only is she not qualified, but she’s in the wrong party to expect to garner transgender support,” along with, “CA currently the lowest case rate in the nation and we’re opening more and more things up now. If everything before this was Newsom’s fault then this is too. We don’t need a new gov and if we did you’d be the last person we’d want.”
Another critic wrote, “You have no govt experience, Caitlyn. Would you tell a novice athlete to start with a decathlon, or with something easier? You need to train for years. Being famous doesn’t negate the fact that you’ve never held office & you have no idea how to run a state. Stay in your lane.”
So far Caitlyn herself has not made any comments about the criticism.
