I never talked about it.” Despite the initial arguments, Michael has forgiven Ashton for his actions. This was because it allowed Michael to open up on his struggles and become comfortable in his own skin.
This has had a positive impact, as Michael has been able to offer support to those suffering from similar problems. That could not have been done without Ashton’s first action. He added: “I realised I needed to let go of the shame I felt and be a champion for people [with severe disabilities]. I was finally ready to tell my story, and I knew because of my twin, I’d have a big reach.”
Michael has certainly lived up to those words. He is a patron for a foundation that specialises in advising sufferers and carers of those dealing with Cerebral Palsy. Michael has spoken at events, detailing his ongoing battle and struggles.
And this source of strength has not only helped those suffering from the condition, but it has also made Ashton feel very proud. In an interview discussing Michael’s condition, Aston remarked: “My brother’s daily actions remind me that life isn’t about running around challenges — it’s about running through them. Mike has a relentless work ethic and a deep compassion for others.”
