Univision La hija del embajador reveal Sancar Efeoğlu (Engin Akyürek) has not been a fan-favorite character. There’s been plenty of talk online about how toxic he, and his relationship with Nare Çelebi (Neslihan Atagül), is.
And they had plenty of reasons. Let’s break a few down, then talk about the massive curveball it looks like the writers threw our way. And, yes, this is going to make us feel very dirty to say what we have to say later.

First, La hija del embajador spoilers reveal Sancar and Nare were once in love. They were actually childhood sweethearts, but eventually Nare’s rape at the hands of Akın Vardalı (Erhan Alpay). Sancar didn’t believe that Nare was raped, despite having known her for so long.
And yes, we do believe that every allegation needs to be taken seriously, while also keeping open minds. There are cases where it turned out an accused person was innocent, and it messed up their lives. However, Sancar knew her from childhood and barely knew Akin. So we just can’t be okay with him not taking her side.
Plus, there’s the way he’s treated her since she came back into his life. He refuses to call her by her name, despite her insisting she didn’t want to be called the Ambassador’s Daughter. Plus, he kept her from getting work, then demanded she basically take a house from him.
Which he’d be paying for, so she’s under his thumb. And he wants her to stay as out of sight as possible. Not to mention, he can be outright hostile at times.

Of course, this is not limited to Nare. He hasn’t exactly been a great husband to Menekşe Efeoğlu (Tülin Yazkan). He hasn’t really spent a night in the same room with her—not even the wedding night. And he overall ignores her. Not that we feel much sympathy. She’s a wicked stepmother who is also a gold digger. But still, it doesn’t speak well for him.

Univision La hija del embajador: Redemption?
However, La hija del embajador spoilers threw us a twist Monday night. Recently, Sancar and Gediz Işıklı (Uraz Kaygılaroğlu) went to jail for stealing a ton of money. And Sancar actually admitted he did it to Nare, so there’s little doubt.
However, it looks like that money went to an account tied to Akin. Sancar arranged with help from an uncle also in jail, and now Akin is the one wanted by police, while Sancar and Gediz are free again. But why’d he do it?
When questioned be Gediz, he basically admitted he did believe Nare back then. However, he said he couldn’t admit it to either her or Akin, because that could put his and Nare’s lives at risk. So, he instead made sure that at some point, Akin was going down for something.
It was an out-of-nowhere twist that left us feeling a bit dirty. We actually have to give Sancar some props and admit he might not be as horrible as we thought. Will that stand? We’ll see. It’s still early in this thing, so plenty of time for him to prove himself to be the creep he appeared to be all along.
