Princess Diana would have disapproved at the timing of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview.
Princess Diana ‘Would Have Felt That Harry And Meghan Probably Went Nuclear Way Too Soon’
Andrew Morton, who happens to be a senior Royal reporter, felt that Diana would not have acted in the way Harry had done. In an interview with Us Weekly, he said: “She would have felt that Harry and Meghan probably went nuclear way too soon. Diana spoke to me ten years after she’d been in the royal family, and that was mainly because her marriage was collapsing.”
While such a statement may have some foundation, there is a clear difference between how Harry acted compared with his mother. After all, there were allegations of racism and suicidal thoughts that were never declared so openly. Andrew, though, saw it otherwise. He added: “[Harry and Meghan are] a couple who seem very much in love, expecting a second child.
“They seem to have been fighting yesterday’s battles as opposed to looking forward to the future.” This should not come as a surprise, given the interview has been so divisive. It has split the media, with a largely positive view in the US, whereas the UK has been anything but that. But given the interview has come out, it cannot be undone. And for Andrew, it created further division within the Royal family that could have been avoided.
He continued: “It was a damaging interview because it was the first time probably in British history that a prince of the realm has directly attacked the institution from which he’s sprung.” Andrew did not stop there. He was very frank on how Diana would have disapproved at the fall out between Prince William and Harry. After all, they have been caught in a crossfire, where the issues could be addressed without the need for the family to split.
William was also taken aback at how his brother could be so vocal about his whole public life in the open. A source confirmed as much: “The conversation Harry and William had after the big interview didn’t end well. [William] already accused [Harry] of putting fame over family after the big interview.” With Diana sadly not with us, we can only speculate what she would have felt.
