And the hits just keep on coming for disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. After beating testicular cancer in 1997, Lance Armstrong became the darling of the cycling circuit, until he was busted and outed as a performance-enhancing drug cheat.
When his doping was confirmed in 2012 he was stripped of his seven consecutive Tour De France winning titles.
Now Lance’s 21-year-old son, Luke Armstrong has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Lance Armstrong’s Son Arrested for Assaulting a Teenaged Girl
The alleged assault occurred three years ago when Luke was 18 and his accuser, 16. The girl claims that she asked Luke to pick her up from a party because she had been drinking.
She admits to not remembering the drive back to the Armstrong family’s Texan home, only that she woke up on the couch with Luke sexually assaulting her.
Though this was alleged to have happened in June of 2018, the teenaged girl only reported the incident to police in November 2020.
According to an arrest affidavit of Luke Armstrong, the now 21 year old reportedly admitted to having sex with the unnamed girl in a phone call with her in December 2020.
The attorney for Luke Armstrong has denied the allegations claiming the pair had been in a consensual relationship.
“What occurred three years ago in high school was not a crime and was not a sexual assault,” the lawyer claims, adding that, Bottom of Form“These charges should not have been filed and certainly not three years later.”
Several people have corroborated the teenaged girl’s story, telling the Austin Police during interviews that she had told them of the rape by Luke. Two witnesses claimed that the girl was still upset and having nightmares about the alleged assault years afterwards.
Another witness, however, told officers that they were informed by the alleged victim that the sexual encounter in question was consensual.
Luke was released from custody after his arraignment. He did not need to post bail.
Luke’s (in)famous father has not made a public statement on the sexual assault claims against his son but the family attorney says the Armstrongs are working on gathering evidence and are confident “a proper and thorough legal process will exonerate Luke.”
