Ears perked up the nation over when Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed his next great challenge is fatherhood. With that soundbite in hand, rumors began circulating that Rodgers, with fiancé Shailene Woodley could be facing that parenthood challenge earlier than expected.
The romance between the 37-year-old football star and the 29- year-old Divergent actress shocked many–including Rodgers’ close friends–due to its speed and intensity.
The two were only ‘outed’ as a couple in January. It was revealed they had been dating since July of 2019 just before, during an NFL award speech, Rodgers divulged the elusive twosome were engaged.
Why the incredibly fast rush? Hmm???
However, the gossip mill was quickly silenced when it was confirmed Woodley is not pregnant and Rodgers was saying he is ready for fatherhood someday.
“I’m in that age group where a lot of my close friends from high school and college are fathers now and have families of their own,” the 37-year-old NFL player shared. “It’s maybe not in the immediate future but definitely something that I really look forward to.”
Shotgun Wedding Speculation as Aaron Rodgers Reveals his “Next Great Challenge” is Fatherhood
The 2011 Super Bowl champion later explained he is hesitant to rush into fatherhood but is, “really excited about that chapter whenever that comes.”
That might be a smart choice, seeing as the pair have not spent a monstrous amount of time together. Separated by pandemic rules with the NFL season and Woodley’s shooting schedule, friends are begging Rodgers to take his time and have a long engagement.
Especially because, a source told People Magazine, they all thought Woodley was a rebound from Rodgers’ girlfriend of 3 years, NASCAR champion, Danica Patrick.
But hey, it’s their engagement and the pair, recently spotted together in snowy Montreal, Canada where Woodley is filming her latest project, seem very enamored with each other.
Speaking with Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show the actress joked about her fiancé, “He’s, first off, just a wonderful, incredible human being. But I never thought I’d be engaged with somebody who threw balls for a living. Like, I never thought as a little girl, ‘Yeah, when I grow up, I’m gonna marry someone who throws balls! But he’s really just so good at it.”
She has to take that at the press’ word on that, however, as she has never seen her football champion love in action due to the ongoing corona virus pandemic.
We wonder if Woodley will be in the audience when Rodgers takes his turn as guest host for Jeopardy!. Rodgers, a seemingly odd choice to temporarily fill the late Alex Trebek’s shoes will be seen on screens starting April 5 for his 2 week tenure.
