Will Smith has opened up on his political views, and interestingly revealed that President Obama had endorsed him to play the former President in a movie during a funny encounter.

He outlined how President Obama had approached him. Although a film has not been confirmed, if the former President has endorsed Will, then he has a pretty good chance if the opportunity were to arise. In an interview on the Pod Save America podcast, Will revealed : “I will certainly do my part, whether it remains artistic or at some point ventures into the political arena.
“The idea [to play Obama] came up, and he looked me up and down and said, ‘Well, you’ve certainly got the ears for it.” Will, for his part, has ambitions to run for President at some point in the future. And a run for the White House is a realistic possibility. He revealed: “I think, for now, I’ll let that office get cleaned up a little bit. Then I’ll consider [running] at some point down the line.
“I absolutely have an opinion, I’m optimistic, I’m hopeful, I believe in understanding between people, and I believe in the power of harmony.” This should come as no surprise, given that there have been other celebrities who have expressed similar desires in the past. Rapper Kanye West has been vocal about it and even encouraged his fans to get him on the ballot of various states during his bid.
In addition, former professional wrestler Jesse Ventura has also expressed his desire for running in the past. After all, he was the Governor of Minnesota at one point. And Will continued by stressing that the volatile political landscape has made it ripe for someone like him to make a run. He added: “If people keep saying all the crazy kind of stuff they’ve been saying on the news, lately. They’re going to force me into the political arena. I’ve got to be the President. You know, what else would I run for?”
We will have to see if this movie, or presidential run goes ahead. And who knows, he might become President.
