Mama June Shannon has opened up on how the pandemic has led her to put on some extreme weight.
Mama June Shannon: ‘I’ve Put On About 60’ Pounds
This is her latest admission after she recently came out and revealed the exorbitant amounts of money she had spent on her drug habits. In an episode of her new show, Mama June: Road to Redemption, Mama stated: “Look, we [her and her boyfriend Geno Doak] have put on a little couple extra pounds.
“I’ve put on about 60. He’s put on about 100. We put on a whole other person. But I’m going to blame it on healthy Covid weight.” That does not mean, however, that it has affected her confidence. In fact, Mama still feels as optimistic as she ever was. Her gripes have not been with how she looks but rather her ability to control her impulses.
In an interview with Toofab, she said: “Am I happy the way I am? Yeah. When I was a Size 2 at 150, I was way too damn small. Now I’m 250, and I feel good. Even when I was 500, people didn’t believe I was 500.” Mama has instead chosen to prioritise her health by dealing with the biggest problem of all: her drug addiction. She has been to rehab, but that has not been without its difficulties.
This has been compounded by the fact that Mama has a lot on her plate. Her boyfriend, Geno has also struggled with his weight issues which have added another complication. Not only that, Mama has been busy promoting her new TV show in an attempt to inspire others who have been struggling with similar problems. There are also financial concerns which have left the couple on the brink of destitution.
That has not stopped her from addressing the problems, and she used it as extra motivation. She revealed: “If you’ve ever been in addiction, you have to know your sobriety has to be #1 and forefront. This may be bad on my part, but it takes precedent over my relationship with Geno, my relationship with my family, my production team.”
