Woody Allen has denied that he had ever sexually abused his daughter, Dylan Farrow.
Hollywood Director Woody Allen Denies Sexually Abusing His Daughter
During an interview with CBS, Woody rejected that he could ever be part of such a monstrous act. He said: “Nothing that I ever did with Dylan in my life could be misconstrued as that.” The director has been through a lot of late. The continued media coverage of the accusations has been going on for a prolonged period. Dylan first made the accusation in 1992, and since then, it has escalated into one of the biggest scandals in Hollywood.
While he has received some support from within Hollywood, most notably Scarlett Johansson, it has turned into a media frenzy. Woody has, nevertheless, remained perplexed against his daughter’s claims. He added: “I never was accused of anything in my life. [Then] I’m suddenly going to drive up in the middle of a contentious custody fight at Mia’s country home (with) a 7-year-old girl.
“It just – on the surface, I didn’t think it required any investigation, even.” Woody, for his part, does not hold any resentment against Dylan. This would be a strong statement to make, especially since she has accused him of sexual assault. And yet, Woody has had a more nuanced approach to the claims. He refused to call her a liar but hinted that she might have inadvertently construed the events as being something else, especially since she was seven at the time the incident had allegedly occurred.
He continued: “I believe she thinks it. She was a good kid. I do not believe that she’s making it up. I don’t believe she’s lying. I believe she believes that.” Since that time, Dylan has become more vocal on the issue and has vowed to continue speaking her truth. This led to the release of her documentary entitled Allen v. Farrow. The programme detailed the trauma that Dylan had experienced as a kid.
Woody denied the allegations that were made. In a statement made by a representative of Woody, it said: “Woody and Soon-Yi [his partner] were approached less than two months ago and given only a matter of days ‘to respond.’ Of course, they declined to do so. As has been known for decades, these allegations are categorically false.”
