David Dobrik has suffered as numerous brands have parted ways with the Youtuber after an allegation was made that his previous vlog partner, Dominykas Zeglaitis, had raped a woman.
David Dobrik Loses Major Brands After Claims He Had Filmed An Alleged Rape
The victim has remained anonymous but claimed that David had filmed Dominykas having non-consensual sex with her. The fall out has emerged with DoorDash, HelloFresh, EA Sports and Dollar Shave Club, some of the companies that have parted ways. And it seems legal proceedings have begun. Kat Tenbarge, who broke the news to Insider, revealed that things have started behind the scenes.
She said: “This time, we didn’t get a response from the man who was accused of rape. But we did hear back from David Dobrik’s lawyers, and part of the reporting process was responding to the issues they took with our story.” Dominykas has a significantly smaller following than David. As such, the latter has much-more to lose, given that his fan base runs into the millions. David, though, has yet to comment on the allegations which is worrying.
First, it could be seen that he has something to hide. After all, if you are innocent, then there is nothing to worry about. But it could simply be a case of being prudent, especially knowing that this is a severe case. A representative of his, in the meantime, released a statement. It said: “David will be addressing his community directly. Anyone who knows him knows he does not condone misconduct in any form.
“Vlog participants provide consent before anything is posted. Whenever consent is retracted, posts are removed. Any insinuation of wrongdoing is inaccurate and defamatory.” The allegations look incriminating as the video of the alleged incident in 2018 has been taken down. And the comments in the video were worrying light of the current allegations.
In the video, David was heard saying: “Dom [Dominykas] just had a threesome. I think we’re all going to jail.” Regardless of whether David argues that these comments were in jest, there is clearly going to be a push back from fans and, of course, the victim. If David knew what had happened but failed to report it, then things are looking ominous.
