‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers find that Ben Higgins has revealed the reason why he had lost vast amounts of weight during his time on The Bachelor.

In an interview with Us Weekly, he stated how it all happened due to a parasite in his body. He said: “The craziest thing that ever happened to me on this franchise, which I can speak to you openly [about] now, is I had a massive parasite the whole time I was on the show. I was in Honduras — which is a country I love — for a wedding. I get a parasite in my gut. It hits me the week that filming starts.”
So why did the audience not know about this? Well, the producers had other ideas, as Ben revealed. He continued: “It was blamed on being stressed and anxious. You can’t really share this after the show because that isn’t a great look for The Bachelor; it’s not a great look for the contestants. It’s not a great look for the show that I was sick the whole time.”
This should come as no surprise as Ben previously spoke on the other difficulties he had felt on the show. He previously told the Right Reasons podcast: “I remember walking in New York City; I was on a [PR] tour before for the show. And the sign on the ABC building — they cover the whole side of it with the Bachelor or Bachelorette’s picture.
“And I remember it was the first time I saw the ‘perfect Ben’ was written, and I looked at the person next to me, and I go, ‘Wow, they couldn’t set me up for more failure.’ And they couldn’t.” All of this made Ben begin to doubt himself. He added: “I had massive expectations on who I was, and at that time, I wasn’t even talking about it. But inside, I felt far from perfect.
“I felt far from adequate, like, I didn’t even feel sufficient. And so, in my mind, it was another revelation that’s like, ‘OK, that is who I’m going to be onscreen, but inside, like, is this show even gonna allow people to get to know me? Would the contestants or the people viewing [get to know me]?”
