Former Bachelor star, Jade Roper has revealed the onset of depression she experienced following her son Brooks’ birth in 2019.
‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: Jade Roper Revealed She Had Depression Following Birth
Jade shared her feelings amid the criticism she has received after expressing negative emotions about parenting following the birth of her other child, Reed, in November last year. When speaking to her fans on Instagram, she said:
“Some days, I really struggle with what content to share on here. Someone messaged me yesterday saying that they were going to unfollow me because of all my complaining about motherhood since Reed was born and that I need to be the person I was when it was just Emmy and Brooks.”
And by all accounts, Jade was in a terrible place as she went on to reveal: “Fact is, I was fighting a dark depression for the first six months after Brooks was born and no one would have known it,” the reality star explained. And the fact is, I’m not that perceived person they spoke of anymore.”
Nevertheless, no one is perfect as she admitted to learning on the job. After all, there is no handbook on bringing up a child. She revealed we have a “version of ourselves [that] we are getting to know as well” in reference to how her parenting has developed.
And yet, the criticism continued from fans who questioned whether Jade should have opened up her private life on social media. In response, she said: “I’m fumbling through, learning as I go and leaning in as I get to know my baby and the new versions of my children and husband as they evolve and adapt and grow as well. “I guess I share the imperfect moments in hopes of reaching across a social platform and sparking a human connection.”
“[I speak to] anyone out there hanging on by a thread, needing to know they are loved and not failing, and, honestly for myself when I’m needing to hear a kind voice speak my truths to me. “To remind me on the days where I can’t find the light, that it’s still there. I want people to know you can carry both joy and grief together.”
It is good to see that Jade is doing much better now. If you enjoyed reading this article, then make sure you check out our other articles on the Daily Soap Dish.
