Those aged over 80 in the UK are among the high-priority groups who are being given the vaccine first. A royal source said the vaccines were administered by a household doctor at the queen’s Windsor Castle residence, adding that she made the news public to counter any speculation.

The queen has been a fixture of hope for Britains since the pandemic surged in the United Kingdom and around the globe in early 2020. Back in April she made a rare televised appearance to help lift the spirits of the people in the UK.
“I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time,” she shared, “a time of disruption in the life of our country; a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all.”
