Joe Rogan had his mind blown by the performance of Max Holloway as he shattered several UFC records against his opponent Calvin Kattar. He sited his combinations, angles, and intelligence in the ring as something completely off the chars and couldn’t believe the impressive win over Kattar.

Rogan posted on his social media about Holloway’s performance as well as another post about the records he broke,

“Legit superhuman performance by @blessedmma. I am truly blown away. He was already one of the best fighters in the sport and he reached a completely new level tonight.
The combinations, the angles, the volume, the octagon IQ… it was completely off the charts.
So interesting that he didn’t even spar for this camp. That was about as impressive a performance as I’ve ever seen, and hats off to @calvinkattar for being one of the toughest motherfuckers alive and a complete savage. Very few men could have weathered that barrage like he did.”

Holloway broke several records in his match against Kattar, including:

    • Significant strikes landed: 445 (previous: 290)
    • Significant strike attempts: 744 (previous: 515)
    • Distance strikes landed: 439 (previous: 281)
    • Significant head strikes landed: 274 (previous: 244)
    • Significant body strikes landed: 117 (previous: 92)
    • Significant strikes landed in a round: 141 (previous: 134)
    • Total strikes landed: 447 (previous: 361)
    • Total strikes attempted: 746 (previous: 541)

It was an incredible feat for someone to accomplish. People commented on the amazing record-setting bout, “Mastery of creating and controlling the actions of his adversary and then ownership of the ‘in between’ moments. Art.”, “Amazing!”, “Amazing performance ?”, “This was the best performance I’ve ever seen in my life.” and “Fight of the year 2021?!?! How can someone top that”.

We may have to call it already, 17 days into the year. This may already be the best fight of 2021. It will no doubt be hard to beat, well, nearly impossible to beat.

Congratulations to Max Holloway and his incredible performance and for shattering several UFC records.
