George Clooney says that the violent events of this week, in which many Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, will put President Trump and his family “into the dustbin of history.” The Hollywood actor is the latest to speak out about the January 6th clash, which saw at least four people and one Capitol police officer dead.
In a new interview with KCRW’s The Business podcast, George slammed the pro-Trump protestors and expressed just how devastated he felt watching the “people’s house desecrated in that way.”

He said, “It is also a tremendous overreach in a way. Everybody kept waiting for, what’s the one thing, the straw that breaks the camel’s back and it just seemed like that line just kept getting moved and moved and moved and outrage didn’t even matter anymore, even to the point of calling the Secretary of State in Georgia and pressuring him. None of that seemed to matter. This mattered.”
The actor pressed: “This puts Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump , all of them, into the dustbin of history. That name will now forever be associated with insurrection.”
“This is a big, big difference,” said Clooney. “If this is what it takes to set us on the right path, I think that, not that it’s worth it, it’s not worth it in any shape or form, but at least we should find something hopeful to come out of some of this disaster.”
George Clooney wasn’t the only person who spoke out about the matter. “Support the peaceful transition of power!!!!!!!!” Ashton Kutcher urged in a twet. “That’s being a patriot.”
Sarah Jessica Parker also called the display “unimaginable” and “disgraceful” in her tweet.
“So many to hold responsible. You know who you are,” added the actress. “You dismissed the violent, divisive, cruel rhetoric. You made excuses. Cowards He/you are not leaders. We will try to re-build. You will try to live with yourselves.”
