‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) comings and goings say that the end is certainly near for Theo Vanderway, as actor Tyler Johnson will be exiting the show. While the news did come as a shock for many fans, others felt split on whether or not Theo should go or say. Here’s what you need to know.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long at all for Y&R fans and followers to comment on the fact the they will no longer see Theo breaking hearts and stirring commotion for the Newman and Abbott families, and particularly for his nemesis, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

Some fans took to their social media accounts to write, “I can barely stomach this show, but from what little I saw of him, I was very impressed with the actor. They could have gotten a lot of mileage out of him as a long-term villain.That, or Tyler should’ve been a recast for Billy Abbott,” along with, “I’m not surprised. He’s a good actor. And supported the BLM movement over the summer. Wish him the best of luck. They trashed him for Lola and Kyle. I didn’t like the Dina missing child and grandson storyline. I’m starting to think that Theo will be killed. It all makes sense now.”
There was also this one critic who put it this way, “This character should never have been long term, especially when the show has legacy scion Noah Newman languishing in limbo with only the random drive by to act as a talk to for Sharon/Mariah/anybody-else-Newman-adjacent. And the actor, while sufficiently hot, played the smarm out of that character; I can think of about thirty–meh, maybe sixty–seconds where I found him appealing before he quickly did something that caused him to revert to type. Sorry, but this loss is minimal at best.”
Meanwhile, Tyler Johnson took to his Twitter account to write, “I’ve always been an optimist. Today isn’t an end, but a new beginning. Thank you to everyone tuned in to watch Theo Vanderway – it was all a blast. The future is bright. Love you all.”
