’90 Day Fiancé’ spoilers tells that when Ariela’s Dad came to Ethiopia, I’m not sure what he was expecting. He said that he was lacking in world travel, so it’s not surprising that everythign was so foriegn to him when he came to this country.
However, I’m pretty sure that everyone and their brother knows (and has known since the early 1980’s) that Ethiopia is still very much a developing country. Dr. Weinberg said he was surprised that everything was so underdeveloped in Ethiopia.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Culture Shock for Dr. Weinberg
My question is, what on earth did he expect it to look like? Certainly he didn’t expect it to be as developed or as nice looking as upstate New York, certainly he had to have watched some travel documentaries in his lifetime that illustrated just how things were in Ethiopia.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: But nope.
Looks like Dr. Weinberg was off having a life while the rest of us were watching Save the Children infomercials in the early to mid 1980’s. Biniyam was worried about this becaus he said he was well aware of how everything looked in regard to his way of life.
He wanted his new in-laws to think that Ariela and little Aviel were both healthy and happy in Ethiopia, but seeing the things they saw… that might be a bit of a challenge for them. I don’t think the Weinbergs expected to personally get to know their dinner before being expected to eat it, but at least Ari stepped in at the last moment and prevented the chicken from being killed… well, at least for another couple of hours maybe. (Nice looking bird, though!)
Ariela said that it was difficult living in Ethiopia and proceeded to drag Biniyam for not being home more often and for jetting off to work as soon as he gets a phone call. Janice was quick to remind him that in America, the culture is different and wives like to know in advance when their husband is going to work, Biniyam says that is not the case in Ethiopia and the men just go off to work without really telling their wives anything… which I kind of doubt, honestly.
I think the neglecting to let Ari know things is more of a Biniyam problem and not a cultural problem. The in-laws were really helpful and let them talk about the problems they were having, even gave some very helpful tips.. but will Bini follow them? Stay tuned!!!
