People have been talking about the 2020 election a lot lately and taking it very seriously. Many have already cast their vote through absentee ballots, while others are voting in person today. However, would you be willing to drive cross-country to vote? One woman believed that’s how important it was.
A Michigan woman, who currently lives in Florida, decided she had to drive 2,200 miles to ensure her vote counted. This was because she was growing concerned with her absentee ballot, and worried it may not be counted.
According to Click On Detroit, Nurse Gabrielle Dopico said,
“If you don’t vote, you’re giving the other party 2 points. So, that’s my take, I’ve always thought it was a civic duty. Six years ago I moved to Florida and my husband was going to come down with me but he got a good job here.”

Gabrielle and her husband traveled to Florida and back quite a bit until COVID-19 happened. They then stayed in Michigan and found work. Dopico said, “I quit my job in the hospital in Florida because my husband had some health issues and he had to continue care here, so I just decided, ‘I’m going to come and be with him here and help him out”.
There have been several stories like this pouring in, and American’s are concerned with the mail-in ballots and absentee ballots getting counted correctly.
