British Royal Family News says that unfortunately, Prince Harry won’t be coming home for Christmas this year. There’s a new report that says Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle don’t plan on returning to the UK anytime soon, instead choosing to spend their holiday season in sunny Southern California.
This will be the second Christmas that Harry and Meghan will spend their holiday separately from the rest of the royal family. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Page Six, while there was some speculation that Harry would be returning before the end of the year to see his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and the rest of the royal family, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also supposed to return to London in January for Meghan Markle’s court battle with the British tabloid press, but have managed to postpone the trial until next fall for a “confidential” reason.
British Royal Family News: Prince Harry Won’t Be Coming Home For Christmas
“It is unlikely the Duke and Duchess will be traveling before the end of the year because the focus had been the trial in January,” a spokesman for the couple told the outlet.
“As that is no longer happening, there are no plans to travel at the moment, but any travel plans will be kept under review.”
As many royal fans know, the Duchess of Sussex is is suing the publisher of a British newspaper for publishing excerpts of a letter that she sent to her father, Thomas Markle.
This means the 10-day trial originally slated for January has been pushed back to the fall of 2021. The exact date will be set later. The decision followed a hearing held in private, and judge Mark Warby said the reason for the delay request should remain confidential.
“The right decision in all the circumstances is to grant the application to adjourn,” Warby added. “That means that the trial date of January 11, 2021 will be vacated and the trial will be refixed for a new date in the autumn.”
However, after the hearing concluded, Meghan’s father Thomas Markle, who she has not seen or contacted in over two years, released a statement opposing the postponement. That’s because he doesn’t believe that he has much time left on his hands, especially with the global pandemic that has been the coronavirus and his declining health.
“None of my male relatives has ever lived beyond 80 years of age. I am a realist and I could die tomorrow,” it read. “The sooner this case takes place the better.”
