Harry Styles was recently on the cover of Vogue Magazine, the only solo male ever to do so. However he ruffled a lot of conservative feathers when, instead of a tux, or even tux and tails, or maybe just a more casual men’s suit, he posed in a light blue, ruffled, Gucci gown.

Harry, who has often said that clothes have no gender, made an interesting point in his Vogue interview when he said, “When you take away, ‘There’s clothes for men and there’s clothes for women’, once you remove any barriers, obviously you open up the arena in which you can play.

I’ll go in a shop sometimes and I’ll just find myself looking at the women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing. It’s like anything, anytime you’re putting barriers up in your own life you’re just limiting yourself. There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes.”

    Ah, such refreshing innocence.

Candance Owens seemed especially pressed about this issue when she wrote on twitter: “There is no society that can survive without strong men. The East knows this. In the West, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence.

It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men.” Wow sis, are you jealous that he got to wear the Gucci gown before you did? I’m sure that when you get your own Vogue cover they can arrange something just as nice for you, but, oh, that’s right, they haven’t asked you, have they?

Ben Shapiro also came for Harry by retweeting Candace’s tweet, saying that what Harry did was a ‘referendum on masculinity’, whatever that means. Again, I’m pretty sure that Ben is just jealous because Harry pulled off ruffles in a way that Ben never could. Sorry Ben, but ruffles just aren’t your aesthetic, maybe sequins and a glitter beard?

If you think Harry was alone in his standpoint on wearing whatever you want, no matter your gender, he isn’t. Lots of celebrities came to his aid in this twitter tiff. Zach Braff proudly tweeted Harry’s Vogue photo saying “All our lives men and boys are taught you have to be manly.

Life is short, be whatever the f*** you want to be.” Elijah Wood clapped back with the ever-so-wise, “I think you’ve missed the definition of what a man is, masculinity alone does not make a man.”

Jameela Jamil tweeted a photo of a man in a powdered wig who also wore ruffles (and makeup!) saying, “At one time this was considered manly. Maybe this is the return of the manly man.” Olivia Wilde simply replied to Candace saying, “You’re pathetic.”

    Roasted.

Kathy Griffin called all the Harry Styles Stans out of hiding by saying, “Candy Owens doesn’t know what she’s in for by going up against the Harry Styles fans.” And if you were a teenage girl about a decade ago you will know exactly what I’m talking about, because 1D fans are really die-hard and really ready to fight for their boys, even if the band is essentially broken up… you thought the Beyhive was bad?

Candace Owens found out the hard way about what millions of ticked off 1D fans can do, and honestly I don’t know what’s funnier. That didn’t keep her from posting another video doubling down on her stance, but hey… some people never learn, do they? Stay tuned!!!
