’90 Day FiancĂ©’ spoilers reveal that Jenny and Sumit got given the runaround when told about how to apply for the Special Marriage Act. Originally their lawyer told them that they would have to apply for the special marriage act, wait 30 days for anyone to object, and then face marriage officers, which could get really expensive.
However, the lawyer they talked to as of this current airing told them differently and from what he said, the process is a lot easier than what they originally thought, which is good because neither of them needed to sweat bullets over this.
’90 Day FiancĂ©’ Spoilers: Sumit’s parents cannot legally object
He said that all they needed to do was to go to an Arya Samaj temple, and get married there. He said there would be no question of conversion because the people at the Arya Samaj temples look at the soul of people not their religions.
They will get the marriage certificate at the temple. Then, afterward they can apply for the registration post-marriage, also, unless Sumit is under 18 or “a lunatic”, his parents cannot legally object. This seemed to settle Jenny’s mind and for that, I’m glad because she was really freaking out about potentially not being able to stay in India. We all know Sumit’s parents are going to be pissed, but I mean, they’ll have to deal at some point, right?
Speaking of wet blankets, Sumit has decided that before he gets married he wants to talk to his parents. Yup, in true “don’t know how to cut the apron strings” fashion, Sumit has decided that he wants to bring his parents into this after all.
Oh why, why, Sumit? Why not let two sleeping tigers lie? He says because he wants to keep his relationship with his parents and while that is definitely admirable, I just can’t see them ever approving the relationship between him and Jenny.
Now he wants Jenny to go with him and try and convince his parents that this is a great idea. Honestly, does he think that their opinion is going to change once they see her? Probably not. They’re probably going to be really angry that he’s trying, what, a fourth time to convince them that this is a good idea?
Trying to convince them is not a good idea, Sumit! Geeze. Just go and get married and surprise them at Christmas! Or… whatever the holiday happens to be for Hindus. (Sorry, no disrespect!) Stay tuned!!!
