It was reported that President Donald J. Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 and since then the media has been a whirlwind of what could or could not happen and worst-case scenarios. It appears from his Twitter posts and videos that Trump is doing fine with the virus and this was more of a precautionary measure.
However, in an interesting turn of event, Trump has taken an experimental antibody drug that has shown promising results to prevent the illness and symptoms of COVID-19.
The creator Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. said the company agreed to supply a single dose through an IV for Trump at the request of his physician.
The new drug is in late-stage testing but its effectiveness and safety still aren’t known. This is a wildcard that the President just played. It must take a lot for these two consenting parties to agree to this. Trump must feel insanely confident in this unproven drug to take something while it’s still in development.
Meanwhile, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. must have even greater confidence if they’re willing to inject this into the current United States President!
President Trump Gets Experimental Drug For COVID-19 Illness
This was given to Trump on Friday before leaving the White House and it’s been reported that he only has minor symptoms. Is this because of the drug or his immune system? We’re still unsure, though the President is back to tweeting like normal, so he must be doing alright.
Earlier, Conley (Trump’s physician) said Trump also was taking zinc, vitamin D, an antacid called famotidine, melatonin, and aspirin. Though most of these are common practice for people who want to stay healthy like zinc and vitamin D, it’ll be interesting to hear the final results.
Should this drug help Trump, what will this mean for Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc.? Could this give them a significant bump in their findings?
