Chrissy Teigen has announced on her social media account that she has miscarried her third child, a boy that she and her husband John Legend named Jack. The couple revealed the heartbreaking news on Thursday morning by sharing several behind-the-scenes photos of both Chrissy and John’s reaction after hearing that they lost their baby.
Chrissy wrote that her doctors were not able to stop the constant bleeding that she was experiencing, and therefore couldn’t adequately get her baby boy the fluids he needed to survive. Before that, she had been placed on a mandatory two-week bed rest. The model didn’t specifically state how far along she was, but she had said previously that she was about halfway through her pregnancy, so around 4 or 5 months.
Fans Divided Over Chrissy Teigen’s Public Grief On Instagram
Chrissy posted a message on her Instagram account that said, “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
She added, “We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for Chrissy’s fans and critics to either defend her choice to share her photos on social media, or slam her for not keeping them private. Some people took to their social media accounts to write, “I can understand writing about this as a way to help others and know they aren’t alone or even to try and get some closure to something so sad, but these public pictures are hard for me to stomach. I just cannot,” along with, “I agree with all of this. I also hope that other women who have experienced this loss are not adversely affected by Chrissy and John putting their grief out there for everyone to see.”
Another fan has this to say, “These moments were so private, and these families were so grief stricken, I can’t imagine any of them posting the photos of their experience for public consumption. Bringing awareness to miscarriage and the real grief and loss it encompasses shouldn’t be professionally posed for maximum coverage.”
