British Royal Family News says that as each day goes by, Prince Harry is becoming more and more Americanized. And that’s not just because he’s taking surfing lessons or eating at In N Out on the regular, but also because he and Meghan Markle have no desire to ever return to London. Here’s what you need to know.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in a new interview, royal expert and author Robert Lacey said there’s a very slim chance that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will ever return to the UK, as they stated during their Megxit negotiations with the Queen.
British Royal Family News: Prince Harry Is Becoming Americanized
In fact, he believes that California has become the Sussexes’ “home base” and that Harry and Meghan have no desire to live six months out of the year in North America and the other six months in the UK, as they previously stated.
He told the publication, “I don’t think we’ll ever see them leaving their American base. The question is can the monarchy adapt to the challenge of a free thinking couple and arguably the most charismatic members of the family or will they shut them out of the picture?”
While it’s no secret that Meghan Markle didn’t get along with some of the staffers that worked behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace, Lacey says that she and Harry brought on a whole new team of American advisors that are supposed to help them in their new goal of becoming the world’s most powerful celebrity philanthropist couple.
This, of course, didn’t sit well with the palace. He said, “We know Meghan does not get on well with palace people. When she brought in her own American advisors it was very offensive to the palace pr. No one has ever done that before.”
Lacey also suggested that Harry and Meghan’s future is looking rather bleak, especially as they have become “ex royals.” He said, “At the moment they are enjoying their new lives. But if there is no reconciliation next year there is going to have to be a cut, and they will have to be ex royals. As the Duke of Windsor discovered, that’s not much fun.”
