’90 Day Fiancé’ spoilers indicate Jihoon and Deavan’s relationship (a relationship that is very much over now) is the fact that he was embarrassed to show her where he worked. What on earth for? He quit his delivery driver job and went back to his old job of selling used cell phones.
This concerned Deavan because while it did make more money, it also offered the temptation of getting into legal trouble again. So I kind of doesn’t blame her for asking his boss if the merchandise upfront was stolen or not.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Why So Embarrassed, Jihoon? Worried About You’re Trouble With The Law?
His Boss seemed blissfully unaware of the fact that Jihoon had previously been in trouble with the law, selling stolen goods before. In fact, I’m not sure that he even believed Deavan. He said “I trust Jihoon.” in an almost southern good-ol’-boy way, you know, the kind of old southern gentleman that’s nice to a woman’s face but think that she’s just a crazy raving lunatic underneath. That kind.
Jihoon was quite humiliated by what Deavan said, okay, so maybe she could’ve handled that whole thing better but she was just making sure that she wouldn’t have to bail him out of another $15,000 debt, or worse, being alone in Korea with her two children while Jihoon served time in jail.
I’m not sure what Korean prisons are like but I can’t imagine that they’re very pleasant, not like any prison actually is, but you get my point. But that still doesn’t answer the question, even before all that happened Jihoon was embarrassed to let Deavan see where he worked. Why was that?
I think he answered the question at the very end when he looked at her and scoffed, “You take care of my children.” honestly, the look he gave her was like she was no better than the hired help and like her opinions shouldn’t matter simply because she was a stay-at-home Mom.
Deavan internalized that with an “Okay then.” which, if you’re a man with half a brain you will know that tone to mean “You have signed your death warrant.” Jihoon should have known better.
Honestly, I think when she got to Korea, Jihoon expected Deavan to morph into the perfect little Korean wife, totally in-tune with Korean culture and perfectly content with whatever cultural roles that she had to fill within their marriage.
I’m not sure where the disconnect was with Jihoon, did he not remember meeting the Mother-in-Law? That was what Deavan was descended from, if he wanted something different then he should have picked a different door. I’d say poor, naive Jihoon but this isn’t naivety talking. This is stupidity. Stay tuned!!!
