’90 Day Fiancé’ spoilers find that Ariela is going to consent to let Biniyam baptize the baby. However, she says that she does not plan on raising the child in the Orthodox faith at all and that she doesn’t want any talk of the notion of Hell with her son.
She doesn’t want him traumatized. I’m not going to fault her there because a lot of children end up traumatized by talk of Hell. Apparently, in the Jewish faith, Hell does not exist. Which is kind of amazing considering the Christian faith technically sprouted from the Jewish faith, but I digress.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Ariela And Biniyam STRUGGLE To Come To A Compromise – Jewish Or Christian?
Ariela says that if you love someone that you are willing to make compromises and she said that this was the only thing that Biniyam was asking for. Ultimately it’s not much, as she put it “putting the baby in a tub of water and praying over it”.
The ceremony has a lot more significance than that, but being raised in a different faith I could see where she would think it’s silly to have such a ceremony. After all, as Christians, we have no room to talk because there are a lot of ceremonies that we think are silly that actually have significance to other faiths, but we either ignore them or look at them as if they are alien sacrifice rituals.
What I’m hoping is that Ariela’s wish that her child not be traumatized be obeyed by the rest of Biniyam’s family. However, something tells me that some well-meaning Auntie somewhere is going to haul off and tell that kid when he reaches school-age that if he keeps misbehaving he’ll end up in the lake of fire.
I hope that Biniyam stands up to his family before then and tells them that they’re not actually raising the kid to be a practicing Orthodox Christian. I don’t really know how he would phrase that without being overridden though, it’s clear that these Aunties are determined to insert themselves. How that is going to work out for Biniyam, Ariela, and their son, who knows? Stay tuned!!!
