The WWE Universe have been waiting for months for the inevitable fall out between Sasha Banks and Bayley. That moment finally came on SmackDown last month, as Bayley finally turned on Sasha Banks, and beat her down. The beat down has left The Boss with injuries, but that didn’t stop her from making an appearance at Clash of Champions this past Sunday.
Banks emerged from ringside after Bayley got herself intentionally disqualified against Asuka. Bayley hit Asuka with a chair to ensure that she kept hold of her title despite officially losing the match. However, Banks wasn’t about to sit back and watch the Raw Women’s Champion be on the receiving end of chair shot, and brought an equaliser of her own.
WWE News: Banks To Appear On SmackDown?
While it will be seen as a shock appearance from Banks, as she was nursing a neck injury; it wasn’t actually all that surprising for fans. The WWE Universe knows that the WWE are setting up this title match between Banks and Bayley, and the fans could be set to get their first instalment of that rivalry at Hell in a Cell next month.
Fans have been waiting for years to see the two superstars headline a PPV, as the story between them has always been clear for all to see. Steps to make the match official at the next PPV could be made during Friday’s SmackDown, as Banks could be set to appear once again to demand a match against Bayley despite not being 100% fit.
WWE News: Potential Trilogy Fight?
There will be a layer of disappointment among fans, as some would have been hoping for their match to headline WrestleMania next year, but an early head to head between the superstars certainly wouldn’t rub fans up the wrong way. That is, of course, it is part of the longer-term storytelling for their rivalry.
A half-fit Banks isn’t likely to take the title of Bayley, which means that we could see the Boss beaten down so badly inside the cell that we don’t see her for the remainder of the year. She could then return at the Royal Rumble to win the women’s match to set up a main event-worthy match between the two at WrestleMania. However, that planning makes far too much sense, which means the WWE could be set to throw in a curveball.
