NBC ‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that wenesday’s DOOL episode was pre-empted due to the coverage of the Breonna Taylor case in Kentucky, not surprising it was pre-empted, because soaps usually are when it comes to news of that calibre.
I think the verdict shocked more people than the pre-emption, and rightfully so, but I digress. Of course you can always watch DOOL via the app or online, but the older generation sometimes isn’t as up to date on such things as we would like, and sometimes we don’t have the time to help Grandma log on to NBC.com or wherever to watch it, so, here’s a tip for all of us old school peeps out there – yesterday’s episode will be aired at 3AM!
NBC ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Pre-empted DOOL episode to air overnight
That’s right, NBC has heard the prayers of Grandmas and un-techsaavy Boomers alike, and has decided to air the episode starting at 3AM tonight, Thursday, Sept. 24th. (Actually if we’re being technical, it’s Friday, Sept. 25th, but some people don’t actually count overnight as ‘morning’ until they’ve gotten up and had their first cup of coffee.
Okay, we feel that.) Can we expect NBC to do this in the future? We don’t know yet, but you know, if they did this it could prompt a resurgence of soap operas, at least a little bit because a lot of people who may not watch in the daytime might would do this at night when nothing is on, and considering everyone’s quarantined right now, well… that’s a market they haven’t thought about catering to, the unemployed/quarantined individuals. ‘
Yes, I realize that these individuals still have the app and online access, but what about people in hospitals who may not have access to their at home media? There’s a market right there, also, people in nursing homes who may not think about these kind of things during the day or have problems sleeping at night could benefit from late night soaps, it would keep their minds occupied while giving the nurses a break at 3AM or so.
I mean, if I were head of NBC I’d think about it. This is one person who still laments the loss of soapnet and think that had great potential, but oh well. At least we’ll get yesterday’s episode guaranteed at 3AM. Stay tuned!!!
