Legendary quarterback Joseph Clifford Montana Jr. and his wife confronted a home intruder who attempted to kidnap their 9-month-old grandchild over the weekend. Los Angeles law enforcement officials have confirmed Sunday.

Montana told deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department that the child was sleeping in a playpen on Saturday when an unknown woman came into their home in Malibu in an attempt to steal the child. Montana and his wife, Jennifer, confronted the woman.

The woman was later identified as Sodsai Dalzell. Montana and his wife de-escalated the situation and asked for their grandchild back. After a slight back and forth, Jennifer was able to pull the child from Dalzell’s arms,

Montana tweeted,

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.”

The sheriff’s office also stated that Dalzell had tried to escape and ran home and was later arrested. She faces kidnapping and burglary charges. No more information was given by the sheriff’s office and cited that the case was ongoing.

We’re thankful to hear that no one was hurt, and their grandchild is safe! It’s still not clear how the woman gained access inside the house, but we’re happy Montana and his wife were able to fend her off. This is the best possible outcome.
