CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers star Tracey Bregman recently opened up about the challenges of working with late Y&R head honcho Bill Bell. Here’s what she has to say.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the actress says that while it wasn’t always easy and there were plenty of ups and downs during those very early years on the set of Y&R, she certainly did learn a lot.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Tracey Bregman Opens Up About Emotional Storylines Early In Her Career
Tracey told the publication, “I was rarely told stuff ahead of time; Bill wanted the story to unfold. We had a great relationship. He would always listen to me, but we went through our own little trials and tribulations as well over the years.”
As many fans can recall, it was also Bell who penned Lauren’s very difficult relationship with Sheila (played by actress Kimberlin Brown). Recalling the storyline, Tracey explained, “Just before that story, I had purchased a condo and Bill asked me. ‘How much did you pay for it?’ And first I was taken aback, and when I told him, he said, ‘Okay, let’s pay it off this year.’ He was really wonderful to me.”
The actress also said that there was one challenging period that came when Lauren had an on-screen miscarriage and then a challenging pregnancy, which just happened to mirror the events of her own life.
Tracey makes it no secret that the storyline was quite emotional for her, saying, “Yes, because Bill made me do Lauren’s miscarriage on camera after my own. And then when I got pregnant with [my son] Austin, I was scared to tell Bill I was pregnant. I didn’t tell anybody on set until I was safely six months along. No one knew. What’s funny is that I gained 15 pounds in the first months and I’ll never forget the hairdresser asking, ‘Did you mean to gain this much weight?’ and I was like, ‘Yes, I did!’ When I was at six months, I finally said something and Lauren’s pregnancy was quickly written in.”
