CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers indicate that fans have certainly noticed something very different about Nikki Newman in the most recent episodes. That’s because actress Melody Scott Thomas has been wearing a wig on the set of the hit CBS soap and she recently explained why. Here’s what you need to know.
Because of the global pandemic that has been the coronavirus, a lot of changes have been made to the way both the film and television industries operate. There is more social distancing, which means the actors and actresses have to do their hair and makeup by themselves. That’s why Melody decided to make things a little easier on her by wearing a wig in front of the cameras instead.

“I know there’ve been a lot of questions about Nikki’s wig,” she tweeted. “Just wanted to share that everything is fine! When we resumed production, we had limited contact with our amazing glam team and needed a simple, short-term solution. You’ll see my real hair soon!”
Before Melody clarified why she was wearing a wig, there was speculation online that she might have been sick or that the actress was hiding an illness from her fans. Thankfully, that hasn’t been the case at all.
Many of her Twitter followers commented with, “With or without the wig you still look glamorous. Nikki Newman could wear a paper bag over her head and still call it fashion,” along with, “Thank goodness this is just a wig and nothing else. I was worried about you for a moment there. But I’m happy that you and the rest of the cast are back, working safely again.”
