TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: The Other Way’ spoilers reveal that Deavan Clegg went on IG live last night in an interview to address the situation that happened in the last airing of the show. While it’s always going to look bad and definitely not paint a good picture of her, there are things that we didn’t see that went down when the cameras weren’t rolling that added to this situation.
Apparently, the incident where Drasilla ran off, or at least the one we saw on film, was only the first time she ran off. Deavan said that there were two different times that night that she ran off, and one we did not see on film. There were two different incidents that were spliced together for the show.
TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: The Other Way’ Spoilers- People make mistakes: The last word on Deavan Clegg
The incident we saw on film: Drasilla took off running and Jihoon was the only one really running to chase her down. Deavan and her Mom berated Jihoon afterward and made him cry.
The incident that actually happened: Drasilla took off running and Jihoon did go after her. Two hours later, during what appears to be a break from filming, same thing happens, but this time Jihoon, instead of running after little Drasilla like Deavan asked him to, he stood there and yelled at Deavan who had her hands full putting Taeyang into a car seat and could not run after Drasilla.
Little Drasilla did run into the street and almost get hit by a car, during the time that Jihoon was yelling at Deavan that he could have spent playing hero and actually saving the little girl. Then, and only then, did filming resume and both Mom and Deavan royally light into him and make him cry.
I’m guilty of jumping to conclusions as well, but we all have to admit that there’s three sides to every story, his side, her side, and the truth. The part where little Drasilla almost got hit by the car was not captured on film.
We have to remember that this is still a TV show and the crew takes breaks and then resumes filming. This probably happened during a break when they were filming. Unless we want 90 day to start implementing bodycams and it become a TLC version of The Truman Show then we can’t expect every interaction ever to be recorded. This one, looks like, was a case of extremely poor editing.
We also have to remember that reality TV show means real people. Obviously, there’s a reason that Deavan has a lifelong protective order against her ex. She didn’t go into detail but she did say that in the live. She said there were reasons, legit reasons, why she had the protective order.
She said the kind of order that she had against him would not show up on a criminal background check as well, so that is why some people who were doing some super-sleuthing couldn’t find anything. Also, Drasilla, just from the sounds of it has never had any real contact with her biological father.
Speaking from experience, when you don’t have contact with your biological Dad, then you don’t know what your missing. Especially with a child that young. Also, why should he even matter at this point because Jihoon was the man that Deavan had chosen to be with and he was going to be the man in her life, so why should this biological Dad matter now, to anyone? Crusading for no reason is still crusading for no reason.
While I’m not exactly singing Deavan’s praises, the bullying of her has got to stop. She’s a 24 year old girl and she might have two kids, but that doesn’t exempt her from making mistakes. She’s still human, she’s still prone to making them.
Also, her Mom cannot leave her house right now, some of you are going to applaud that because you think that she went too hard on Jihoon, no one is denying that. However, being unable to leave her house because of threats she received? That’s a bit far, people.
The woman has to go out and get groceries every once in awhile. (And trust me there are some things you cannot order online. Trust me, I’ve tried.) Deavan’s Mom is extremely protective of her because it has basically always been those two against the world.
It has always been just Deavan and her Mom. Speaking as someone who was raised by a single parent, I get the mentality. Not that that excuses her for debasing Jihoon on national television, but I certainly get the mentality behind it.
As for Jihoon, was he embarrassed by all the social media attention he was getting? Yes. Was he actually suicidal? No. Deavan actually called to check on him and Jihoon is okay. We also have to remember that this event that “just happened” on our television was filmed over a year ago.
So Jihoon has had some time to emotionally distance himself from the situation. She also said that Jihoon and her Mom made up 10 minutes later off-camera but the producers didn’t bother to get that on film. Hmm.
There was also the fact that 24 hours after deleting his IG her put it back up with a message thanking everyone for their support and telling everyone that life is beautiful. I think we can say all’s well that ends well wirh Jihoon.
What is also appalling is the amount of hate that her children, specifically Drasilla, has gotten over this. At the time of filming Deasilla was 3 years old and any toddler that age is going to run into the street.
While that does not give Deavan a free pass at all, there are some things that even the best of Moms can’t prevent. Especially when they have their hands full taking care of the other child at the moment.
Why was a 3 year old running away from her Mom twice? Why does a 3 year old do anything? Because it seems like a fun idea at the time. Some people have speculated that it is because Drasilla has ADHD or is autistic but that is not the case.
Fortunately Deavan is a good enough parent that she has checked for those two conditions but even if the child was, no one really has a right to her medical history except for Deavan and her pediatrician. Sorry folks.
Also, ragging on a child’s looks and calling them nicknames like Dracula is really petty. I don’t think anyone who’s old enough to post on social media needs to stoop to that level of being petty. It’s not a good look. We can criticize the adults all we want but the children, both Drasilla and Taeyang need to be left out of this.
The only thing I will say is that I did kind of question Deavan’s choice of baby name for her little girl because Drasilla is a really old sounding name for a little girl, but that being said that was Deavan’s choice and not Drasillla’s. I digress, the fact of the matter is, the children are innocent and they should be left out of anything that went down with Deavan and Jihoon.
So whlie, Deavan and her Mom both could have handled this situation better, the fault is to be shared by everyone (with the exception of children) involved. Can we criticize all of their choices in handling the situation? Yes.
But do they really need to be crucified over and over again in the court of public opinion so much that it interferes with their day to day life? No. That’s stupid. It’s 2020 guys, let’s not make life harder for other people than it has to be. We all have to share the planet, let’s leave room for other people’s mistakes. Stay tuned.
