CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers are here and ready to go with some fun throwback spoilery goodies. Even better, it looks like we’re off to a great start in Y&R’s Baldwin-Fisher Family week with Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart)’s first storyline nearing completion. We’ve heard hints at Kevin’s past before, and it’s cool to see how he got his start. We’ve grown so accustomed to seeing him as a good guy now, that his original storyline as an internet predator may be shocking for some.
Given the current trend for crucifying people for past transgressions, it’s interesting that the powers-that-be would make the decision to show this as the character grew from his missteps and grew into a responsible, caring, and honest person. Is this a passive aggressive social commentary, or just an excellent episode?
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For July 13: Daytime habits
As ‘Young and the Restless’ have mentioned before, this is a staple of daytime television where rapists and their victims were eventually married and became super couples. The difference here is he and his victim, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) didn’t marry and become something huge, which was a good change from the days where such actions were rewarded.
Since this episode originally aired on November 26, 2003, it appears someone at the top was paying attention and worked to avoid those issues. In fact, in this episode, Kevin sought help in the form of legal advice from his brother, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), for the problems he faced for infecting the younger Lily with the sexually transmitted disease chlamydia. Michael told him to take the blood test and accept the responsibility for what he did. Michael is then at a loss when Kevin mentioned Lily was the one he was with, and when Kevin asked him to give him some money Michael had enough and slammed the door in his face.

On the flip side, Lily was at a crossroads on what to do after learning Kevin infected her. It took some soul searching and further counseling by her parents, Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell) and Neil Winter (Kristoff St. John). After being told how proud they were of her, she decided to go to court and do her part to ensure Kevin got what he deserved. Definitely an awesome episode, this carries so much weight and power that it’s worthy of watching it several times. What are your thoughts?
