NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that star Kristian Alfonso has opened up about the real reason why she left the show after nearly four decades on the hit daytime television series. According to the stunning brunette, who is best known for her role as Hope Brady, DOOL writers wanted to write off her character before she ultimately decided to quit. Here’s what she has to say.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in a new interview, Kristian says that ‘Days of Our Lives’ executive producer Ken Corday wanted to abruptly write off Hope Brady and have her come back after four to five months, which is something that many characters often do these days.

In fact, it seems as though no one is every ‘gone’ forever, as even fans have noticed more and more than some of their favorite characters return to the small screen after a brief hiatus.

For Kristian Alfonso, she took this as a sign that it was time for her to move on, both personally and professionally. In fact, she even admits that she’s been quietly mulling over the decision for several long months now.

The actress told the site, “I was taken aback when he said that they wanted, he and [producer] Albert wanted to take me off camera for four to five months. It was not something that had ever been discussed but that’s what it was, and to come back in five to six months, or four to five months — whatever that time frame was — I just thought, you know what, it’s time to really write a new chapter.”

Kristian also said that thanks to the coronavirus quarantine, this was the first time in her life that she actually got to relax and do all of the things she’s been wanting to do for several years now.

“Through all of this horror of COVID, it’s the first time in my life I was actually able to exhale because I’ve been so busy with my life and really enjoyed just being home and really doing nothing. Maybe cooking,” she said. “But just enjoying my family, my friends. Catching up.”
