British royal family news has revealed that Prince William visited Peterborough over the weekend in the United Kingdom. It wasn’t just a friendly visit to see how people are doing in the area, as William used his platform to voice concerns about the number of people that are forced to sleep rough. William expressed during the visit that this was the perfect opportunity to ‘crack homelessness’.
William was speaking about the hearbreaking topic as he visited a support group called The Light House Project in Peterborough. The prince was particularly keen to learn more about how busy they had been throughout lockdown. Workers that are associated with the charity revealed that they had been helping over 150 people throughout lockdown.
British Royal Family News: Project Continues To Work Hard Throughout Lockdown
Those that worked for the project revealed that the centre had helped over 150 people that have been living rough to find a hotel room during lockdown. In total, four different hotels had been used by the project. William also spoke to one person that had been forced to live on the streets throughout his life.
Robert Smale revealed when speaking to the Duke that he has no intentions of returning back to the streets. William revealed that he hopes that one of the main positives that come out of this period of lockdown is that there is something that people will now be able to do to help those that are homeless.
British Royal Family News: Emergency Plans Put In Place
William was referring to the emergency plans that were put in place during the lockdown. As local governments were given just over £3 million to help those that were living on the streets. The project was called ‘Everyone In’ and was instrumental in helping those that were sleeping rough to find somewhere indoors to stay.
The play was part of the reaction of the government to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, as the Politian’s wanted to get homeless people off the streets and inside where they would be safe from the threat of the virus.
William openly admitting in the meeting yesterday that he hopes this is just the first of more steps that will be implemented to help those that have been forced to sleep rough.
