Love Island news finds that fans were handed more disappointment on Monday as it was revealed that the winter edition of the show would not be returning in 2021. The first ever winter series took place earlier this year, with the show instantly becoming a favourite. It was able to stand alone from the summer series as it was hosted in South Africa as opposed to Mallorca.
However, while the news may be a disappointment, the ITV announcement does tease special things ahead for the summer series that will take place next year. It was revealed that there would be an extended run for the series, which means that will likely last longer than the previous summer editions.
Love Island News: Pre-Production Set To Start Next Week
The announcement regarding the winter edition of the show was made just a few weeks before the pre-production was set to start. There were immediate fears that the series wasn’t likely to go ahead as the summer edition this year was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was revealed that everything was done to ensure that the show could go ahead, but Kevin Lygo admitted that it just wasn’t possible.
It may just be a case of sitting tight for Love Island fans at present, as absence will certainly make the heart grow fonder. By the time that the summer series next year comes around, fans of the reality show wouldn’t have had fresh episodes for a year and a half, which means the big changes being introduced will have to be huge hits with fans immediately.
Love Island News: Will Winter Series Ever Return?
The winter edition of the show this year was largely a success, with Finn Tapp and Paige Turley eventually winning the edition. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the series will be returning after the break next year, but it would be likely that it would return when the time is right.
The summer series of the show is the original, so it isn’t hard to see why ITV are planting their full strength behind that edition. However, fans in the UK will be hoping that the next 12 months go quick, as the Love Island: Australia which begun on Monday night has already fallen flat with fans.
