CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers is here with some throwback spoilers from August 24, 2006, and this is going to be one of those episodes where tissues and ice cream may be a big part of our party favors. This is one of the best episodes, but also one of the most heartbreaking as we join the Abbotts in saying goodbye to a mainstay for decades, John Abbott (Jerry Douglas). It was a great sendoff deserving of the character and actor. Though, it’s a shame why it happened, is Jerry Douglas is right in his assessment, but more on that further down. But first, let’s get to the episode.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 4: The outsiders
One of those trying to gain entrance and say goodbye is Gloria Abbott (Judith Chapman). Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) are going to do what they can to help her find her place in the Abbott family again, but without John it’s going to be an interesting and harder than imagined task to accomplish.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 4: The Abbotts Mourn John Abbott – Gloria Fights to Rejoin the Abbotts
It’s such a small thing to ask, but will Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and the others allow her this one moment? CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers would like to think they would, but their issues run pretty deep so nothing is guaranteed. In an event where friends and family say goodbye to one of Genoa City’s most well known people, this is definitely an event we don’t want to miss. What makes this even more heartbreaking is it didn’t need to happen.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 4: Not a man’s role
According to Jerry Douglas, the head writer at the time, Lynn Marie Latham, killed his character off because she couldn’t understand why a man would run a cosmetics company. It was his reward for being in the role for twenty-five years and for meaning so much to the fans.
The good thing was, he came back a few more times as a ghost to help or visit other characters over the next few years. Despite that, CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers can’t help but wonder how different the show would’ve been had he remained. Sure, the reasoning that they wanted to focus things more on Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Jack work to a point, and Jack’s character grew immensely since then, but it feels like those same things could’ve been accomplished had he remained and had a reduced role over the years. This is definitely an interesting and maybe even hot button topic for some, and we’d like to hear your thoughts.
