CBS ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers Throwback For June 8: Debut Episode!

Hey all, and welcome a new week of throwback spoilers provided by CBS ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers. Things get off to an awesome start as the producers have finally listened to fans (Fan Choice theme week) and are showing the very first episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Every show wants to start out fast, but usually, there’s a build-up that comes over a couple of seasons; basically they have a chance to grow. During the 1980s, daytime television was a battleground of a couple of dozen shows, so there really wasn’t much expectation of being given a chance to prove themselves. In this era, a show needed to hit the ground running and with the gas pedal pressed to the metal, and that’s exactly what they did. Without further ado, here it is all the way from March 23, 1987.

There’s no rest for the wicked, as we’re dropped right in the middle of a preview of Forrester Creations’ Eric Forrester (John McCook)’s new couture line to the press. It has the chaotic feel we’ve come to expect from episodes focusing on fashion shows and the link, and it allowed us to get to know the characters right away and without pretense.

His sons, Ridge Forrester (Ronn Moss) and Thorne Forrester (Clayton Norcross) are attempting to help in their way, which means Ridge is being his typical playboy self with the ladies, which leads us to the introduction of another important and powerful character, Bill Spencer, Sr. (Jim Storm). Ridge has been dating the publishing mogul’s daughter, Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson), and Bill wants him to stop before she spots another woman and breaks Caroline’s heart.

But the home run of the debut episode came when Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) returned home to find her sister, Katie Logan (Nancy Sloan), battered as she was attacked on her way home from college. Out of all the ways the show could have started, this one rocked viewers as we had a potential storyline involving battering and/or rape shoved right in our face in the first episode. This caught all of our attention, and set the show off with a bang as women protecting themselves and watching for potential dangers was a regular storyline at the time.

But other shows allowed us to get to know the characters first, and this was a calculated risk as it could’ve swamped the show before it got going. Instead, they had our attention, and Brooke and Katie were immediately fan favorites and have remained that way throughout the years. What episodes are you hoping to see?
