TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: The Other Way’ spoilers finds that we are sucker for a good romance and we admire Ariella’s bravery but on a very real level I have to be honest, I fear for Ariella’s birth process. She’s going from a westernized country where we have epidurals and good hospitals to give birth to Ethiopia. Now, one could argue that Mothers in Ethiopia give birth every day without problems but even those Moms I feel for. Depending on where in Ethiopia that Ariella is located, she could be at a hospital that is not equipped to deliver a difficult birth.
When they were showing her how she would have to clean herself off after the birthing process and when she asked if it would hurt I cringed inside. She literally has a squirt bottle in which to clean herself up with after delivering her child. Maybe I’m just your run of the mill, spoiled US citizen that is used to hospitals that are more well-equipped than a bottle of dawn and some water to disinfect myself after birth, but when they told her that it would “feel interesting” I knew that they were really covering for the fact that she would feel pain.
TLC ’90 Day FiancĂ©: The Other Way’ Spoilers – We are worried about Ariella
Anyone who has tried to rinse a cut in warm, soapy water knows that it stings. I cannot imagine what it would be like having to rinse your own birth canal after giving birth with your run of the mill “warm soapy water”. I think the phrase “Die screaming” entered my mind more than once upon looking at the bottle that she handed Ariella. Also, poor Ariella won’t have the benefit of the epidural because even though Mom is going with her and has been a registered nurse for decades, she is not qualified to do an epidural and therefore can’t give her daughter one. So poor Ariella is going to have to either tough this one out or find a different pain management option during birth, and I honestly don’t know how many there are available in Ethiopia. Honestly, I would have waited until giving birth to go to Ethiopia. Even the doctors were slightly horrified when she told her OB/GYN that she would be heading to Ethiopia to give birth.
Also, what about her soon-to-be hubby, Biniyam, AKA: Baby? I’m not exactly sure what the birthing custom is in Ethiopia for the birthing process. Do they stay with the Mothers during this process or do they stay out in the waiting room and smoke a cigar, old school style? For Ariella’s sake I kind of hope he’s a more hands-on Dad, because she did give up her entire life to be with him and it would seem like a slap in the face to just dip out on the birthing process, but as of yet we have not met Biniyam, so here’s hoping for the absolute best.
