ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal the end of an era is here. Earlier today, social media was buzzing about a farewell to one of the publications that keeps fans connected to their favorite shows. In a post to their official Instagram, ABC Soaps in Depth announced the issue on stands April 27th, 2020 would be their last print edition. The news quickly traveled through social media, and the stars are speaking out. Here’s what you need to know.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The beginning
According to Wikipedia, ABC Soaps in Depth began in February of 1997. It focused it’s coverage on the shows of the time. Unfortunately, with only one show remaining, they’ve focused mainly on General Hospital spoilers, news, and features. They also talked about the other remaining shows on other networks.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Changing times
In a way, this probably shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Media has changed a lot with the evolution of the internet and social networks. It makes sense that this decision would be made, although we personally feel a little sad about it. There’s something to be said for holding one of those magazines in your hands. The thing is, with several soap magazines covering a lot of the same material, it was only a matter of time before they decided to consolidate a bit. According to Wiki, the NBC version of the magazine is already gone, and the CBS version will end as well.
However, fans can still get their General Hospital spoilers and other content. The magazine promised they’d keep covering the genre so many fans love online. While that was a bright side to the news, many of the actors are mourning the decision.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Soap family
It’s clear the soap world is a tightly-knit community. It makes sense, especially these days. With only four shows out there now, there are only so many places for Daytime actors to go. We recently saw a chat online with several GH actors who were also all part of the Guiding Light cast. And we’ve seen several GH people end up on The Young and the Restless as well as Days of Our Lives. But it seems the ‘General Hospital’ stars are really coming out in force.
The first star we saw react was Jackie Zeman, who plays Bobbie Spencer on GH. She talked about what a joy it’s been to work with the team, as well as showing gratitude for the love they showed GH. Eden McCoy, who plays Josslyn Jacks, also chimed in, mentioning how she’ll treasure the print copies she has. Also showing love to the publication was Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). We’re sure there are a lot of soap fans out sharing their sentiments.
