CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) might be one of the better actors on the show. Even though they feed him bogus lines and terrible stories, he still manages to keep me interested. With a solid storyline, I feel like Billy Abbott could be a powerhouse on the show. He could compete against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) as the head of Jabot. Everything that I am going to say in this is obviously what I would like to see happen, and is in no way what is expected or planned on the show.
I’d like to start by backing up my claim about Jason Thompson because I truly feel he is a decent actor. They want him to act like a spoiled, momma’s boy and he does it, well. The way his character flirts with his own darkness feels genuine and powerful. Unlike Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) where everything feels so forced and phony. I believe Billy when he’s in the shadows. However, he can flip a switch and smooth talk Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) in the same night. Imagine if the writers gave Billy an interesting story and something to focus on. Sure, they have him working at Chancellor at the moment, but what do they plan to do with that? Ruin it? How original.

CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Is Billy Abbott Underutilized On The Show? – Here’s How They Could Use Him Better
I would love to see Billy get back in Jabot. I don’t know how, but soap writers have written crazier things. When Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) steps down, instead of appointing Kyle Abbott (Micheal Mealor) because of his immaturity or something with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), Billy is able to step into the lead position.
On the other side of the aisle, you still have Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) sitting in the CEO position as once Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) recovers, she realizes she doesn’t want the position anymore because of the stress. Assuming Adam gets Victor locked up, he’d be fighting Nick for the company at the same time Billy is going at Nick. Nick and Billy can’t stand each other. I would say Nick hates him, and for Billy to have that much power at Jabot, he could really dig deep into the darkness and do something to get rid of Nick, if he chose. Billy, as they say in the show a lot, goes big or goes home. This would be an interesting guy to have at the head of a company like Jabot.
I think Billy isn’t that interesting of a character in general, but Jason Thompson makes it interesting enough to keep me watching. I often wonder where he will be and what he’ll do next. Sure, the writers often make him out to be a big baby, but Thompson has the ability to take the character and make him truly a force to reckoned with. While not a replacement for Victor, (he’s an Abbott obviously) I think he could be on the same level as a Victor type character. They just need to do a better job of writing him and quit making him do stupid things all the time. What do you think? Am I the only one who likes him or do you think he could be a much better character? Let us know in the comments below.
