CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Greg Rikaart Still Suffering from COVID-19
In light of COVID-19 news sweeping the globe and Rikaart’s declining health, he decided to self-isolated from his husband, Robert Sudduth and his 4-year-old son, Montgomery – a decision that was both smart and selfless. Once his fever spiked to 103 degrees Fahrenheit, Rikaart continued to seek testing for the novel coronavirus. He began to experience symptoms of difficulty breathing and cough. Rikaart was eventually diagnosed with pneumonia.
Now, Rikaart has opened up about his battle with the virus, “It was a long, long battle, and I’m grateful that I never ended up having to go to the hospital,” he told USA Today, “It was 12 days of fever, and it was definitely a really challenging experience.” He referred to his battle as “never-ending” and “scary.” Only a few weeks later, Rikaart’s symptoms have improved, however, he still struggles with shortness of breath. He explained that when he is talking, he will have to stop to take some deep breaths.
However, as he recalls his struggle with COVID-19 to USA Today, he is candid and honest about the virus, “There (weren’t) even marginal improvements day to day, and that part was scary, because I never knew if I was at peak of how bad it was going to get, or if it was going to get worse,” he says. Luckily, the support from his castmates, husband, son, family, and friends lifted his spirits and got him through a challenging time. We are happy to hear that Greg Rikaart is on the mend.
