TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: ‘Before The 90 Days’ finds that on day one, we have been standing Big Ed Brown, he comes off, at least at first, like a great guy who just happened to find love with a girl in a foreign country and now before they are together intimately, he wants her to take an STD test. Not too much to ask, right? No, but there are certainly better ways to ask. Last night, big Ed took Rose out on what I’m assuming was a nice, expensive date, and then told her that he loved her. Awww, right? Then he asked her point-blank to take an STD test.
Not only that but he demanded that she be more open about her past! He said that if she agreed to take the test then he would never ask her again. Wow, where’s the trust, Ed? Because in the same breath he demanded that she trust him because according to him he had not been with a woman since the time he was unfaithful to his wife almost 30 years ago. That is some shady stuff right there buddy. He didn’t agree to take the test with her because he didn’t trust the medical facilities in the Philippines but yet… they’re good enough for Rose?
TLC ’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: ‘Before The 90 Days’ – How Dare You, Ed!
The way to approach this would have been for Ed to take the test first, then politely ask Rose, perhaps after he had gotten to know her a bit better (and definitely not on the first trip) if she would take the test too. Although if he were that insistent on getting it done that quickly, then the smart thing to do would have been to get the test done before he left the US and then hand her his results and say, “would you agree to take the same test because here are my results and I’m clean.”
The way he handled it just made him seem like he was a dirty old man wanting to make sure his new toy was clean before he used it. There were ways that this could have been handled better, no one, probably not even Rose, blames you for wanting to be safe, but there’s a time and a place for everything and it looks like Ed just wanted the intimacy to commence as quickly as possible so that they could… get hitched? But what if the intimacy was not all that it was cracked up to be, Ed? There’s no guarantee that you two would work together on a physical level even if everyone cleared the test, and I do mean everyone, both parties, not just Rosemarie.
You can’t demand complete trust out of someone without putting forth some yourself, Ed. You’ve only known her 3 months, good things come to those who wait, if you had posed this question further along down the line and only asked her to open up about her past when she was ready then this thing would have probably gone about 89% better than it actually did. Poor Rosemarie, I feel so bad for her, she seemed truly heartbroken that Ed gave the impression that he thought she was dirty and used up… wow, that’s how you treat your alleged ‘Queen’, Ed?
What I also didn’t like is how he basically made her admit, on national TV in the public parking lot of a restaurant her entire sexual past! She opened up and said that she had been with Prince’s Dad four years ago but that she never talks to him now, and she had had two boyfriends since then. That’s to be expected, but I guess he expected her to be a ‘lifer’ after she had had a child. Not everyone feels that way, and it’s wrong of him to judge her for trying to date and find happiness after having a child with someone where it just didn’t work out. No one forced him not to date, from the sound of it he just stopped dating after the big fiasco with his first wife years ago where he was the unfaithful one! Geeze… judgemental much?!
Next week’s preview shows Ed trying to call Rosemarie and her not answering the phone. He says he thinks he’s lost her and after a move like that, if Rose decided to move on, then I wouldn’t exactly blame her. It’s kind of obvious that Ed doesn’t know how to treat people, specifically women. Let’s just see what happens next week. Stay tuned!!!
