NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers indicate there’s been a huge evolution for Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). When we started watching the show, she was controlling Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and made her crash the Marlena Evans/John Black (Deidre Hall/Drake Hogestyn) wedding with a gun. She also kidnapped Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), then used a Nicole mask to lure Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) into bed. She’s come a long way in that missing year, and we’re enjoying the process. Here’s why.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Tragedy
First of all, the story is heartbreaking. Watching a character who wanted a child more than anything lose that child was a tough break. It was made worse by the fact she’d already been changing due to the pregnancy. She wanted more than anything to be worthy of this miracle she’d been given. The writers could’ve gone the easy route and had her turn even more evil and crazy than she had been. Instead, they went a whole other way. And they did a great job of it.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Redemption
Okay, we’ll admit this started off a bit crazy. Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate Kristen apparently spent a good part of the missing year in a convent. It was a totally out-there plot twist that we thought was awesome. But they’ve done a good job of making that feel authentic to us. The more we see Kristen, the more we like her. She’s worked hard to stay on the right path following Rachel’s death. And Haley Chen’s (Thia Megia). And she’s done a great job of it so far.
In the Wednesday episode, we even saw her and Eric discuss starting a charity in their baby’s name to help others. And, thanks to Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), Kristen will get to take more of an active role in helping the kids. She’d suggested Kristen join a program that lets people hold babies whose own mothers can’t. It shows a lot of character for Kristen to be so excited about the idea, when a lot of people might have shied away from something that could be painful.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: New dimension
In all that, we’ve also gotten to see a vulnerability to her. A kindness that was missing until that Time Jump. The actress still gets to be the same Kristen in some respects, like when she fought for Brady, or when she attacked Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) for saying hurtful things about Rachel. But at the same time, she shows a lot more compassion now. Some real human feeling that the actress rocks. We’re seriously going to be annoyed if there are no award nods in Haiduk’s future for this storyline. And a well-rounded character is always more fun to watch.
