BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Coronavirus Self-Isolation Leads To Three Million Extra Viewers For EastEnders On Monday!

BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers indicate that the Coronavirus continues to have an impact on day-to-day life, but soaps in the United Kingdom are thriving following the government measures that have been put into place surrounding self-isolation. The British government have pushed residents to stay at home unless they are a key worker or are doing their one daily exercise.

However, the soaps are reaping in the benefits of the increased number of people at home, as millions more people have tuned into EastEnders and Coronation Street this week. It may not be all that surprising given that people have no other choice except to watch the television.

BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Spike In EastEnders Viewers!

The numbers are staggering, however, as there were a peak of 9.32 million watching EastEnders on Monday evening. The report showed that there was an average of 6.49 viewers tuned into the soap as the drama on screen centred around the court case of Whitney Dean.

The fans would have also watched on as Ian Beale made a shocking plea to Karen Taylor, as he urged her to leave Walford with the baby that Sharon has given her. Figures for Tuesday’s episode haven’t yet been disclosed, but the numbers are expected to be similar.

BBC ‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Rival Soaps Also See Increase In Viewers!

EastEnders wasn’t the only soap to see an increase in their viewing figures, as Coronation Street also saw 6.43 million tune in. Monday’s episode centred around the abusive storyline between Geoff Metcalfe and Yasmeen Nazir, while Gemma Winters continued to adjust to being a mother of four.

However, it isn’t all good news for the soaps as they have been forced to cancel filming. EastEnders stopped filming last week, while Coronation Street halted their filming this week. Bosses at both soaps have also made the decision to have less episodes per week, with EastEnders only on twice per week for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, Coronation Street will only be on three times as opposed to the regular six. For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit Daily Soap Dish.
