CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers and comings and goings indicate that unfortunately a huge rock star won’t be joining the cast anytime soon, much to the dismay of quite a lot of fans. After Green Day rocker Billie Armstrong expressed some interest in perhaps joining the highly-rated CBS soap, it looks like all that internet buzz was much ado about nothing. Here’s what you need to know.
While there’s no doubt that there are a lot of celebrities who are big fans of the daytime television world (and have even signed on for guest spots in the past), Billie Armstrong of Green Day won’t be one of them. At least, not right now. For a lot of fans, that’s too darn bad, seeing how ‘Young and the Restless’ always has an interesting music-related storyline going on in the show.

With that said, just this last month there was some buzz that Billie Armstrong would be joining after he shared not one but two ‘Young and the Restless’ related posts on his Instagram account. One was even of the soap’s backstage set, which prompted fans to wonder if he was there to film a scene. Unfortunately, Billie only came by in passing as he was actually filming for The Late Late Show With James Corden with his band. That’s too bad because it would have been quite exciting to see the Green Day front man join the chaos and the drama that our favorite characters deliver each and every day in Genoa City.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Billie Armstrong won’t be on the show in the future. As even soap fans know, anything is possible when it comes to the world of daytime television. Until then, we will just have to keep our fingers crossed!
